About

I have spent over 25 years working in book printing, design, and production. As a former print shop owner and production lead, I help clients bring complex book projects from files to finished books — responsibly, discreetly, and without forcing scope.
I hold an MA in History & Archives, which informs how I approach sensitive material, legacy, and long-term preservation. That training supports my production work — it does not replace it. At the core, I am a printer and production lead, responsible for shepherding books through complex processes with care and clarity.
My work often involves books tied to family history, art, scholarship, or memory. These projects benefit from steady production leadership and an understanding that not every decision is clear at the outset.
Background & Experience
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked with collectors, families, designers, authors, and cultural organizations on projects ranging from museum-quality art catalogues to deeply personal family books. You can see samples here.
This work has included book printing and binding, production planning, layout refinement, image handling, vendor coordination, storage and distribution, and — when appropriate — archival assessment and preservation guidance.
Many projects are conducted under strict confidentiality. This discretion, combined with long-term relationships with trusted printers, has made me a steady presence for clients whose projects evolve over time.

My Approach
Every book has its own rhythm. Some move quickly toward production; others require time for decisions to surface.
For fine book projects, I prefer timelines that allow the work to evolve. When possible, I avoid artificial deadlines so the book can reach its full potential. That said, I also work comfortably within fixed schedules when a project requires it.
I do not force scope. Many projects begin with printing alone. As files, materials, quantities, and use cases come into focus, additional needs sometimes emerge. We address those only if and when they are useful and desired.
Throughout the process, I bring direct involvement, clear communication, and respect for both the material and the people connected to it — ensuring the finished book is not just completed, but right.
